This is the less famous brother of the Golden Pavilion (Kinkakuji). Whereas Kinkakuji really embodies its name, Ginkakuji well, isn’t very silver at all…or currently visible due to construction. However, it is a stop on any Kyoto-must-visit list. The garden around Ginkakuji is very nice and if the leaves were in season, the fiery red and glowing yellow would definitely make this a truly memorable place.
Nanzenji on the other hand is a series of temples which contain varying gardens. However, we only had time to climb to the top of the Nanzenji gate and gaze at the colourful trees scattered around the mountains. I wish I had more time to really see Nanzenji, but at the same time, it is good to have something new to explore when I come back on a Japan Reunion Tour.
In the meantime, enjoy the pictures with a splash of autumn seasonal colors.
