Okinawa: Hard to Say Goodbye

The View from the Hotel Lobby

The View from the Hotel Lobby

For five days and four nights, the comfortably warm temperature, the sound of waves and the view of the ocean was what sent us off to sleep every night and greeted us every morning. There is nothing better in the world than being able to take a dip in the ocean to cool off, or take a midnight stroll along the beach to remedy a sleepless night.

The day of the departure, I woke up and just sat outside on the balcony sipping green tea, until it was time to head back to Naha. Despite all the rain that fell, in a month that was supposed to be the least rainiest of the entire year, despite not being able to see the whole main island, despite the ludicrously expensive and under fulfilling meal at the restaurant near the hotel, despite it all, I really fell in love with Okinawa. No longer a dream in my mind, Okinawa is now a place in my heart.
